I met Tim in kindergarten...we instantly became best friends...we used to sleep over at each other'ss house and do most everything together...Tim talked me into being a boy scout,,,even though I only lasted at it for about three weeks...I remember in the second grade...Tim announced that he was going to attend Cornell University and then become a lawyer...and that's exactly what he did... We kept in touch over the years and saw each other at reunions...And finally got to spend some time together when we both worked on the 40th reunion...While working on this time around's reunion..I keep thinking that there is an empty chair at that table...I got to see Tim a few days befor he left this planet...He was weak...but as I left I held my hand up and flashed the peace sign....he smiled..Tim was a sweet guy...the world today could use more like him

Joe, thanks for posted your wonderful memory of Tim, as well as of Ralph and Craig.

I loved the Pony League tryout story about Punaro - what a special athlete + a genuine nice guy he was.

Tim was an exceptionally sweet, interested, and solid guy. Once I had reason to visit him at his law office and he had two signs on his desk facing the client's seat (if I remember correctly). One was a row of See's suckers in a plexi holder that said: Please don't smoke. The other read: It is human to complain.

Tim was one of the kindest, sweetest people.  It hurts when I think of him gone.  I see his mom at Pavillion's Pharmacy...what a brave woman...losing two sons.

Tim Harris I met at grammar school at Hawthorne since the first grade.  Tim Harris was a fantastic person.  I remember Tim Harris was extremely smart.  Tim became a successful attorney specializing in 1031 exchanges.  When I was getting my Masters of Science Degree in Taxation, I read his book on 1031 exchanges and found out Tim was one of the founders of the 1031 exchange certification programs.  Tim had a company or law firm you could see was very succesful in that 1031 exchange area of expertise.   It brings up a lot of memories from the past and many other names from grammar school at Hawthorne grammar school with events like the cub scouts, boy scouts, and other various organizations that we belonged to like the YMCA when we were younger. Many of the students from Hawthorne grammar school also went to summer camp together in grammar school.  I remember going to summer camp in Redding California at camp trinity with David Weil.  Since my family had 4 boys.... and I can remember there were 3 or 4 boys in the  Tim Harris family (I remember there was younger brothers Randy and also Greg), our family was very friendly with their family with Harvey Harris and Arlene Harris as the Father and mother.  I would go over to their house that was east of our house at 806 N. Alpine Drive so I want to say he lived on Arden or one of those streets east of me ... and I had a great time over there... My parents were very friendly later in my college years with Tim's parents.  My father was very entreprenurial being a Harvard attorney and a film producer and President of the Studio... so Tim's father Harvey Harris relied on my father for advise with his Clothing manufacturing company (which the names of the lines escapes me).  My father became an investor in Harvey Harris (the father of Tim Harris) Clothing manufacturing company.  Since my father and Tim's father were in business together, they had a lot of business meetings and contacts.... Every time I drove my father down from the Warner brothers Studio in Burbank to the Harvey Harris (Tim's father) clothing manufacturing company downtown in My English Rover 2000 TC, I would think of Tim Harris ( and some of the other people we went to Hawthorne with Like Guy Finley and Neil Schlossberg and Timothy Owens and Linda Lapin and Rodney, Fred Goldstein, Bruce Mead, Craig Lesser, etc. I could go on) The father Harvey Harris also had a chain of clothing stores ...  Women sportswear boutiques called Fashion Corner that my father also invested in and Harvey Harris owned it with his brother Hy Harris and another person Shelly Kornhandler who had some children that went to beverly hills schools... el rodeo and Beverly Hills High School ( who some of you would know, possibly).  I ended up running the chain of stores that I changed the names to the Company Store (in Westwood, Santa Monica, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Encino, etc.) that our family and I owned and operated for 10 years after the partnership with Tim's family broke up unfortunately ( since they opening up about 30 more stores after the break up of the partnership)  when I got out of college at Stanford University.  I would think of Tim Harris and his family long after beverly Hills High School.  I got a ten year career indirectly from Tim's family, coincidentally.   Tim ws a great guy. Tim was extremely smart.  He was a very famous attorney in the 1031 exchange area.... and an author of that 1031 exchange book.  I could go on....  But I think that was enough information...  I give my best regards to Tim Harris and his family....

Ken, impressive memory.   Being one of the Hawthorne/Cub scout/Camp Trinity bunch, I  really went back in time with your post.  Tim was a great loss, as well as David Weil and others.  Great catching up with those I  found at the reunion.

That was a very interesting post Ken.

I also liked Tim and he was Mike Schneiderman's across the street neighbor.

Another bit of 1031 trivia. I was started, according to local Oregon legend, by the Starker family in Corvallis Oregon (Home of OSU) and I think that the Starkers still give free college scholarships to anyone who goes through the Philomath (suburb of Corvallis) school system. I didn't realize that Tm wrote a book about 1031s.
